Description
- Knowledge of cloud CI/CD systems, preferably GitHub Actions, with an understanding of how to handle secrets and privileged access for those systems - Hands-on experience with running services in the cloud – we use AWS, so AWS is strongly preferred but not essential - Experience in designing, maintaining and running production infrastructure using IAC (preferably Terraform) - Experience with Docker, containers and container orchestration platforms - Familiarity with core AWS services, we actively use Elastic Container Service, Lambdas, CloudFront, API Gateway, S3, RDS, Route53, API Gateway, ElastiCache - Grounding in basic networking and connectivity – VPCs, load balancers, routing - Experience in using a scripting language (such as Bash or Python), for CI/CD and general problem-solving - Knowledge of observability concepts and ability to utilise monitoring tools (logs, metrics, dashboards, alerts – we use Grafana) to identify problems and find solutions - Understand that platform work is not just provisioning infrastructure but helping services run reliably day to day - Are comfortable working across project delivery and operational support - Comfortable with ambiguity and refining direction as a team - Are curious, proactive and enjoy solving platform problems that enable other engineers - Are self-motivated, willing to seek solutions and ask for help when needed - Are comfortable working with a range of service in production and understand how they are built, monitored and supported - Can communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders - While we outline the experience and skills we believe set candidates up for success, they’re a guide - not a barrier. If you can demonstrate the capabilities needed for the role, we’d love to hear from you, whether you have more or less experience than listed - Familiarity with, and interest in, security, and readiness to consider security implications in every action - Hands-on experience with at least one non-IAC programming language (Java, Python, Typescript, or any other) - Familiarity with AWS IAM, least privilege, encryption and secure access patterns for services and CI/CD - Experience working in e-commerce and running commercially critical infrastructure used by tens or hundreds of thousands of customers every day
