Description
The Master of Mending is a key figure of the 'Atelier Project', an immersive space designed for storytelling and product care located in the heart of the Loro Piana Montenapoleone boutique. The Master of Mending will have a dedicated workspace (desk and tools) and will be responsible, as a primary activity, for performing mending on knitwear garments. Additional, non-priority activities may include minor tailoring repairs such as sewing on a label or a button. The Master of Mending will also be trained to use the machine for personalizing shirts and scarves with initials.
Technical Skills:
• Experience in knitwear repair activities
• Strong experience in knit stitch and hole reconstruction
• Strong experience in chain stitch
• Familiarity with handling "delicate" yarns, especially wool, cashmere, cotton, gift of kings
• Ability to iron and recondition garments with attention to the various types of yarn to be treated
Tools to use:
• Needles (in various sizes)
• Sewing machine
• Thimble or Tailor's scissors
• Magnifying lamp
• Ironing board for garment reconditioning or Sewing thread set
Soft Skills & Attitude
• People-oriented, comfortable with customer interactions and working all day in front of clients
• Passion for LP's history and know-how, desire to learn about the LP textile range (qualities, characteristics, treatment)
• Meticulousness in identifying repair needs and ensuring impeccable work. Awareness of luxury standards in tailoring and finishing
• Flexibility in handling last-minute or unique requests
• Ability to remain calm and resourceful under high-pressure situations
• Courtesy, patience, and attention to high-end clientele
