POSITION OVERVIEW
As part of the Product Development and Production team, the Product Development & Production Assistant will support the execution of the product lifecycle from concept handoff through production readiness. This role partners closely with Design, Merchandising, Technical Design, Raw Materials, Production, Sourcing Offices, Mills, and Factories to maintain accurate product information, coordinate development activities, and support on-time delivery of seasonal milestones.
The Assistant will help ensure product integrity, data accuracy, timely approvals, cost management, and adherence to key development and production calendars. This position plays an important role in supporting the team to deliver product that meets quality, cost, lead-time, and sustainability objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Development & Technical Support
• Create and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs), technical packages, and product development documentation within PLM and related systems.
• Track development milestones, prototypes, submits, and approvals to support on-time execution of seasonal calendars.
• Maintain accurate development records, trim documentation, sustainability requirements, and product information throughout the product lifecycle.
• Attend fittings as needed, document feedback, and coordinate follow-up actions with cross-functional partners
Production & Systems Management
• Support Sample Ready Status (SRS), Open to Buy (OTB), and purchase order processes by maintaining accurate data and tracking key milestones.
• Assist with Time and Action (T&A) management, sourcing allocations, cost tracking, and production readiness activities.
• Maintain production calendars, WIP reports, Airtable trackers, and other internal systems to ensure accurate product status visibility.
• Monitor product, costing, and production information for accuracy and completeness across PLM, GFE, SAP, o9, and related platforms.
Cross-Functional Coordination
• Partner with Design, Technical Design, Merchandising, Raw Materials, Production, and Sourcing teams to communicate updates and support seasonal product development activities.
• Coordinate sample tracking, distribution, showroom management, and vendor communications.
• Support trim development activities and ensure technical packages and product updates are communicated to vendors in a timely manner.
• Identify and escalate risks, delays, or issues that may impact development, approvals, production readiness, or delivery timelines.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Product Development, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred. Internship or prior experience in product development, production, merchandising, sourcing, or a related apparel function preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry, reporting, and documentation. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Familiarity with PLM, Airtable, SAP, GFE, o9, or similar product lifecycle and production management systems preferred. Knowledge of the apparel product development process, including sample management, costing, trims, and production workflows preferred. Demonstrated ability to take initiative, solve problems, and escalate issues appropriately.
